Using The Windows Live Mail Email Client

Microsoft Outlook is not the only mail client application from Microsoft. They have released many other email client applications like Outlook Express, Windows Live Mail, etc, which come preinstalled in the Windows OS. Unlike Microsoft Outlook application, these applications are available as a freeware application for all the compatible Windows platforms.

About Windows Live Mail application

Windows Live Mail is the default email client application in many new Windows operating systems including Windows 7. It enjoys good online Windows Live support and has a user interface very similar to that os Microsoft Outlook application.

Setting up your email account in Windows Live Mail is also very easy. If you open Windows Live Mail client for the first time, an email account setup wizard will pop up automatically asking you to add an account in it. If this does not happen automatically, then will have to manually launch it by clicking on the Accounts option from the toolbar.
Here, choose Email option from the menu to launch the email account setup wizard. You will see text fields on the wizard where you can enter your display name, email address, and password. Provide these details correctly and click Next.

In the next step, you will come across server settings for your email account. Select the email server type, either IMAP or POP, and add the server address for your email address in the next field. You can get this information from the webmail service provider. Put a checkmark against Requires a secure connection (SSL) and continue.

In the next text field, enter your email account login username with the domain name extension. In addition, provide the Outgoing Server details for your email account. You can collect the SMTP server address from the webmail service website. Here too, put a checkmark next to option Requires a secure connection (SSL). Now, select the option Requires Authentication and click Next. Select Finish to complete the account setup process.

Your email account will now be successfully added to Windows Live Mail application. You will find that the user interface and options for sending and receiving messages are very similar to that in Microsoft Outlook. If you have any doubts regarding any of these options, contact Windows Live support team right away.
