How To Set Up WebDAV In Windows 7 OS

Windows 7 is the most popular operating system that Microsoft has ever produced and the Windows 7 users can use WebDAV in Windows 7 computer. All they have to do is just install the Microsoft's Software Update for Web Folders. So, go online, download Microsoft's Software Update for Web Folders and install it. After that, map a network drive to your web account through WebDAV. Given below are given some easy instructions from the Windows 7 help team to set up WebDAV in Windows 7.

How to connect to your web account through WebDAV in Windows 7
  • Move the mouse pointer towards the lower left corner of your Windows 7 taskbar and locate the button Start. Clicking the Start button will open up a Start menu. From the Windows 7 Start menu, you need to click on the option My Computer. You can also open My Computer by just double clicking on the shortcut icon for My Computer in the Windows 7 desktop. 
  • This will make available the My Computer window on your Windows 7 screen. From there, you need to click on the option Map network drive.
  • After that, you need to type the WebDAV address in the Map Network Drive window. You should type the WebDAV address as http://your_site_url/resources. Here, your_site_url refers to the URL of your website or a web account. 
  • Now, at the bottom of the screen, you will see two check boxes. Select both of them. 
  • Next, click the button Finish. 
  • Now, type your username and password for your web account. 
  • If you want Windows to remember the password, you need to check the box that says Remember my credentials and press OK.
When this is finished, a WebDAV drive will be visible, in which you can view the folders and files in your web account by just double clicking on the WebDAV drive. Moreover, the system also allows you to access these files in the future. It would be in Windows Explorer under the Computer listing.

Warning

When you connect your web account through WebDAV, if the credentials that you have entered is not accepted, then, you need to once again set up the network drive.
