Getting Rid Of Yahoo Toolbar From Windows Vista

Yahoo! Toolbar is an add-on application developed by Mindspark Interactive Network, and includes three different programs (Yahoo Internet Explorer Toolbar, Yahoo Firefox Toolbar and Yahoo Toolbar Chrome Extension). This toolbar includes a search engine box and buttons using which you can access your e-mail and favorite websites in a single click.

People find Yahoo toolbar annoying due to many reasons, some of which include the following.
  • It displays advertisements from time to time and sponsored links in your search results page.
  • It hijacks your browser. It changes your browser preference and settings without your consent. It even sets the default search engine to search.yahoo.com.
  • This toolbar is often installed because it comes bundled with some other free software and hence gets installed by users due to an oversight.
  • It often slows down your computer or your internet connection.
  • It may collect search terms from your search queries.
Removing Yahoo toolbar from your system is easy if you follow the following steps.

If you are using Internet Explorer
  • Open the Internet Explorer shortcut located on the Start menu and click on the Settings button of the Yahoo! Toolbar Menu. A new window will pop up.
  • Click on the Uninstall button. Wait for a new window.
  • Follow the prompts you receive to completely uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar from Internet Explorer.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox
  • Open Mozilla Firefox and wait for it to load.
  • Click on the Tools drop-down menu and click on Add-ons.
  • Click to open the Extensions tab.
  • You will find a list of extensions running in the browser. Find Yahoo! Toolbar add-on and click on the Uninstall button next to it.
  • Follow the prompts to completely uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar from the Firefox browser.
Uninstalling Yahoo! Toolbar from Windows Vista
  • Go to the Start menu located at the bottom left corner of the screen and click on the Control Panel menu.
  • Under Programs, you will see an option labeled Uninstall a Program. Click to open it.
  • Scroll down the list of programs installed on the system and select Yahoo! Toolbar. Press the Uninstall button.
  • Follow the prompts you receive to remove the application.
When you install a new application, follow the instructions very carefully and de-select any unwanted bundled add-ons or software. Use custom installation feature when you can to view the list of applications being run. Not installing the toolbar is better than removing Yahoo toolbar often.
